What is a software?

A software refers to any program that tells the computer system what to do.

For some information:

Computer software, or simply software, also known as computer programs, is the non-tangible component of computers. Computer software contrasts with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Computer hardware and software require each other and neither can be realistically used without the other.

Software is one of the topics we learned in CS 1

DIGITIZATION

Another topic was discussed by Sir Tom Secundo, one afternoon. Digitization is the process of taking a visual image, audio recording, etc and converting it to a binary form for the computer.

Digitizing or digitizations the representation of an objectimagesounddocument or a signal (usually an analog signal) by a discrete set of its points or samples. The result is called digital representation or, more specifically, a digital image, for the object, anddigital form, for the signal. Strictly speaking, digitizing means simply capturing an analog signal in digital form. For a document the term means to trace the document image or capture the "corners" where the lines end or change direction.

ASSEMBLE IT ON YOUR OWN!

With enough knowledge about computers and its parts, everyone can assemble a computer.

Because, while doing you are learning, I, myself with the help of my group mates, we assembled the mother board and other parts.

TRY!

Grow old with you...

So let me assemble our computer
Put you to seat when you've had too much to type
I could be the comp. who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you...

(with the tune of 'Grow old with you' by Adam Sandler)

"I want to grow old with you! Speak to me, my computer! Yes, I want to grow old with you!", the Computer Addict said.

Not only people, animals and plants are getting older. Even computers grow old also like us. Computer, is getting old as time passes. As the time passes, the better the computer.
Your computer now is in it's fifth generation, meaning to say, there are 5 generations of computer.

Generations of Computers

A UNIVAC computer at the Census Bureau
first generation

First Generation (1940-1956) Vacuum Tubes

The first computers used vacuum tubes for circuitry and magnetic drums for memory, and were often enormous, taking up entire rooms. They were very expensive to operate and in addition to using a great deal of electricity, generated a lot of heat, which was often the cause of malfunctions.

Second Generation (1956-1963) Transistors

Transistors replaced vacuum tubes and ushered in the second generation of computers. The transistor was invented in 1947 but did not see widespread use in computers until the late 1950s. The transistor was far superior to the vacuum tube, allowing computers to become smaller, faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient and more reliable than their first-generation predecessors.

Third Generation (1964-1971) Integrated Circuits

The development of the integrated circuit was the hallmark of the third generation of computers. Transistors were miniaturized and placed on silicon chips, called semiconductors, which drastically increased the speed and efficiency of computers.

Fourth Generation (1971-Present) Microprocessors

The microprocessor brought the fourth generation of computers, as thousands of integrated circuits were built onto a single silicon chip.

Fifth Generation (Present and Beyond) Artificial Intelligence

Fifth generation computing devices, based on artificial intelligence, are still in development, though there are some applications, such as voice recognition, that are being used today. The use of parallel processing and superconductors is helping to make artificial intelligence a reality.

Machine Cycle

Computer machine cycle
This is the machine cycle

The next topic is about the Machine Cycle.
The machine cycle is a 4 process cycle that includes reading and interpreting the machine language, executing the code and then storing that code.

4 steps:
  1. Fetch - Retrieve an instruction from the memory.
  2. Decode - Translate the retrieved instruction into a series of computer commands.
  3. Execute - Execute the computer commands.
  4. Store - Sand and write the results back in memory

OS?

OS? yes, OS. OS is our next topic in Computer Science 1. How to download it, etc.

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services forcomputer programs. The operating system is an essential component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function.

DON'T WORRY

"Do not worry. I have notes.
You can read it. And I hope it can help you."

These lines were buried beneath the heart of the scholars. Especially when a Long Test is approaching.

Very hard! It is so easy. I don't care. Effortless. Nosebleed. I'm dying. I like it.
Those lines were painted in the eyes of a scholar.

P.S. If you study your lessons, you'll have high score. :)

"AND THE TIME STARTS...NOW!"

Fast heartbeats. Headaches. Cold bodies. Nervous minds. Brilliant ideas. That's all that a person can observe about the feelings of a Pisayano when a PRACTICAL EXAM is approaching.

Look at the underlined word above. Read it.
Yes, it is "PRACTICAL EXAM"

An afternoon is here again. And it only means that there is a Practical Exam in Com. Sci. 1. A practical exam or evaluation about the parts of a CPU.

Wanna join us?

"Yes, you can. . .change it"

CHANGE it. CONVERT it, other persons say. The term "CONVERT" is not only used in the fields of Mathematics or others. It is also used in the field of Computers. Yes! Believe it or not, it is used in the field of Computer Science.

One afternoon, a fresh mind of a scholar was fed by knowledge, knowledge that they can apply in everyday life especially in front of the computers. The knowledge about converting binary to hexadecimal, decimal to hexadecimal, binary to decimal.

The scholars ate a fruit. A fruit full of nutrients. A fruit that enhances their abilities when it comes to computers. That afternoon marked a new lesson, a new knowledge.

BINARY. BINARY. BINARY.11101101

I don't know what will happen if there are only 2 numbers in your life, 1 and 0. I can't imagine what will be the result of it in our life. Chaos? Yes. Chaos. My world will no longer have an order.

BUT!

When Mr. Tom Secundo, our Computer Science 1 teacher, taught us about binary, I am like "WOW!"

After that day, I can imagine the world with only 2 numbers, and for me, it is called "BINARY WORLD".

After all, I converted my name into binary form. And wanna know the result?

This is it!

1110 1101

Have a nice day!
